Bringing the hammer down with EmpowerHR
Scott Park Group is a Residential Building company operating in Perth and surrounding areas along with regional locations in the South and Midwest of Western Australia. The company has a number of key well-known building brands, namely Redink Homes, B1 Homes, Redink Homes Southwest, Redink Homes Midwest and 101 Residential. In addition to the building brands they also have a number of vertically integrated companies in the group, including Glass manufacturing and Ceilings and Insulation operations.
Present and future needs identified
Scott Park Group required a fully integrated HRIS solution – not only catering for their immediate payroll needs but also providing the scalability to automate other HR functions in the future. As a result of their search for the best fit HRIS solution, Fusion5 was engaged to implement our EmpowerHR solution.
The first phase of the project was to implement payroll. Scott Park Group employs and pays approximately 250 employees on a weekly basis and runs a weekly pay cycle which makes for a very busy pay office. There is never a slow week for the payroll staff, without the added workload of a new payroll implementation, so the pressure was on for the small payroll team.
New functionality brings benefits
Having gone live with payroll in December of last year, Scott Park Group believe they have made a good decision in moving to EmpowerHR and are making the most of some of the new functionality they now have.
Prior to using EmpowerHR, Scott Park Group was processing 3 different payrolls, linked to 3 different ABNs. This meant that as well as processing payroll on a weekly basis, Scott Park Group was actually processing this in 3 separate pays. EmpowerHR provides the functionality for different ABNs, to be catered for, within the same payroll. This enabled the 3 separate pays to be consolidated.
Prior to the EmpowerHR implementation, Scott Park Group had not had an Employee Self Service option available for their payroll. The business has now implemented Employee Self Service and as a result have largely automated their leave processes through Self-Service. This approach has provided benefits for employees, managers and payroll by automating the old paper-based leave process.
Self service enhances mobility
Many of Scott Park Group staff are quite mobile, working between different sites. The ability to have Self Service available on mobile devices has helped with the rollout and uptake of this functionality.
Scott Park Group has never had an HRIS solution before and now that Payroll is bedded down, Natalia Smith, Group HR Manager, is looking forward to implementing some of the HR functions, including Performance Management, Learning and Development and HRI Analytics.
