Pegasus and Fusion5 – celebrating a high-flying partnership.

Pegasus Health recently achieved another significant milestone in their finance transformation journey with Fusion5.

A primary care network which performs the function of a Primary Health Organisation (PHO), Pegasus Health supports general practices and community-based health providers within the Canterbury district and beyond. Pegasus Health delivers and supports quality health care to over 445,000 enrolled patients, and provides essential round-the-clock, 365 days a year accident and medical care through the 24 Hour Surgery.

When a review of Pegasus Health's finance department showed that their financial system limited their ability to effectively manage the monthly workload, they knew it was time to make some changes. Seeking a procure-to-pay solution that was more automated and less transactional, they chose Fusion5 to implement ApprovalPlus. While this went a considerable way to alleviating the accounts payable bottleneck, it also highlighted a much larger problem.

"Our old financial system lacked some basic capabilities," says Melissa Blagdon, Finance Operations Manager– Pegasus Health. "It couldn't export to Excel or provide the reporting or workflows we needed. It couldn’t support inter-company transactions, or even integrate to other line-of-business applications.

"These were significant issues for us and created additional transactional activities to meet day to day tasks. More importantly it meant that having access to use our financial data for meaningful business analysis was time consuming and extremely difficult. It reinforced our productivity issues, rather than lessening them. For us to progress the transformation, to be able to add more value, we needed a new financial system."

Once again, Pegasus Health turned to Fusion5 for the right solution.

“We’d already had a good experience with Fusion5 and the ApprovalPlus implementation,” said Melissa. “It was a sound investment, and we quickly came to depend on it. We also knew that about Fusion5’s considerable experience of integrating it to other finance solutions, including NetSuite. So engaging Fusion5 to implement NetSuite reduced any areas of potential risk for us."

Fusion5 began the Pegasus Health NetSuite implementation in August 2020 and completed it early 2021. To work in with this a re-implementation of ApprovalPlus, including some new modules have been included to cover off the Staff Expenses and Credit Card processing for the organisation.

Melissa is delighted with the transformation to date, saying “our processes have been simplified and are our internal controls are enhanced, transactions are touch-less where possible and we are in a cloud-based ever evolving environment.”

To further build on the benefits of ApprovalPlus and NetSuite, Fusion5 and Pegasus Health are working towards utilising Power BI with NetSuite to support the care network’s business partnering initiatives.
