Fusion5 is looking for an experienced Test Manager who is seeking a leadership position, able to lead the Test Practice, mature the service offering, build the team capabilities and grow the practice revenue. This position can be located in either Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

The Test Practice Manager is responsible for developing and maturing the portfolio of testing services and toolsets to support the delivery of test activities to our clients. The role includes oversight of the standards and processes for the Test Practice, along with service delivery oversight and guidance to the test team.

The Test Practice Manager will be responsible for:

Test Practice Management

  • Evaluating current testing services offered and areas for product improvement
  • Leadership of the Test Practice and test team
  • Developing quality standards and continuous improvement
  • Training and mentoring of staff involved in test design and execution
  • Working with Practice Managers and sales to develop sales opportunities for testing
  • Developing Test Estimates, Test Schedule(s), Impact Analysis and co-ordinating resources accordingly
  • Accurate forecasting of revenues associated with test services

Client Service Delivery

  • Managing the test strategy for clients, converting software requirements into test cases and then executing those tests
  • Defining and implementing the role testing plays within the organisation
  • Defining the scope of testing within the context of each release/delivery
  • Deploying and managing the appropriate testing framework to meet the testing mandate
  • Implementing and evolving appropriate measurements and metrics
  • Managing and growing testing assets required for meeting the testing mandate
  • Working closely with vendors to clarify test requirements during test planning, design and execution
  • Final signoff of test activity prior to production implementation
  • Assisting with training plans and delivery as required
  • Working collaboratively with all participants in software development projects

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience managing a team, with exposure to multiple applications of a complex structure
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with clients at all levels of an organisation
  • 10+ years’ experience in ICT – 5 years in Test Management
  • Thorough understanding of test process definition and control
  • Extensive knowledge of best practice for performance testing
  • Project tracking and reporting skills; and understanding of the importance of risk and issue management
  • Experience in implementing test automation across different projects
  • Experience with automated procedures and tools
  • Understanding of User Experience methodologies and usability testing
  • Experience using multiple test management tools to manage test execution and reports
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Extensive experience testing complex software applications
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Project management skills with accountability for end-to-end delivery
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Knowledge of ITIL standards and best practices
