Top 3 ways JD Edwards UX One makes your life easier

In late 2016, Oracle JD Edwards announced the release of UX One for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne version

If you missed the buzz of activity around it - I've uncovered the Top 3 ways UX One makes your life easier.

1. Page Personalisation

Everyone familiar with the JD Edwards Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application will know that it takes hard work to code dashboards and reports. And not just anyone can do it – it’s technical. With UX One ANY user can personalise their own dashboard to view the information they need to make informed and timely decisions. Using the Page Composer feature, you can create and deploy EnterpriseOne pages without technical experience or developer assistance. Composed pages then let users access applications, OneView reports, Watch Lists and several other EnterpriseOne components.

UX One has 38 pre-defined user roles to select from (see page 33 of the JD Edwards UX One Solutions Overview for the list of roles). There’s other handy information about UX One in this document too.

The dashboard is laid out in three columns based on the “Alert, Analyse, Act” principle, so there’s a logical flow to the information.

2. Data visualisations with customisable forms

UX One is all about empowering users to configure their own pages and forms. Users can:

  • Drag and drop fields to create a personalised form
  • Click to hide irrelevant fields
  • Insert fields from another tab to the current tab
  • Resize and reposition forms
  • Rename a field to make it more meaningful
  • Save personalised forms for individual use, or share with others
  • Use the CafeOne layout to share with others
  • Incorporate forms into a personalised page with a list view of the grid, forms and original EnterpriseOne applications in a single layout

Personal forms make it easy for power users or managers to simplify the user interface, and only display the fields and controls that their subordinates need to perform their tasks. This can be done without any coding or compiling. JD Edwards 9.2 also gives administrators the tools they need to publish, share and promote these personalisations to other users or roles. No development, package builds or deployments are required!

JD Edwards tools release 9.2 comes with the following (optional) pre-built components. It’s easy to copy, customise or create them from scratch.

  • 105 Composite pages
  • 338 E1 pages
  • 650 Queries
  • 235 Watch lists
  • 90 Café One
  • 147 Grid formats
  • 1,565 Total user defined objects

3. EnterpriseOne Search

JD Edwards 9.2 tools delivers a keyword driven, enterprise-wide search across all EnterpriseOne tasks, versions and even transactional data. It’s delivered as an E1Page that you can publish and share with your JD Edwards users. Can’t find a purchase order or inventory item? Just type a few characters into the EnterpriseOne search page and watch all the relevant records dynamically display on the page in a similar fashion to the Google search engine.
