Oracle E-Business Suite

Modification Migration Tool

  • Tool for migrating modifications between environments/installations
  • Oracle E-Business Suite
  • Oracle E-Business Suite – 11.5.9, 11.5.10
  • Platform – Linux/Unix

The usual practice when developing modifications within Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is to develop these in a development environment, test them in a test environment and then implement them in a production environment. Particularly with complex modifications, the problem has always been the need to re-implement these modifications in each different environment, and the risk associated with missing a crucial implementation step.

The Modification Migration Tool overcomes many of these re-implementation problems. Once the modification has been developed within the development environment, the user can export the entire modification, including descriptive flexfields, key flexfields, workflows, SQL DDL scripts, concurrent programs, value sets and profile options, and then import these into any other environment. All of this is fully supported because the migration tool uses the standard Oracle FNDLOAD utility to export and import the data.

The modification migration tool can also be used to export all modifications from an environment; a feature that is useful for taking backups of all modifications or for when refreshing a development environment from a later production environment copy.
