The new JD Edwards ERP9 User Interface was demonstrated at Oracle Open World in October this year. As you can see from the videos below, the landing pages and initial log on screens are radically different from the JD Edwards User Interface currently in use. Under the covers there is a wealth of new functionality available to make the JDE user experience more intuitive and to update the way the application presents to the end user.
Tasks and menus have been removed from the left hand side of the webpage freeing up nearly 20% of the screen for user use. Tasks are now placed in drop down menus at the top of the screen.
There are new tools for users; two of the key tools introduced are EnterpriseOne pages and the Carousel. More details in our Spring Magazine.
The interface project has been driven by:
- The need to update the user interface to give it the modern functionality and look that today’s users expect of a web based application
- The desire to place more control in end users hands so that IT professionals do not have to get involved in the customisation of screens for end users
- The introduction of new functionality to improve the user experience.
At Fusion5 we are excited about the new interface and the new functionality that it delivers. We will be contacting our customers once the Tools Release becomes available to discuss options around deployment of the Tools Release.
Our customers need to be aware that the new interface is delivered as a Tools Release upgrade (it will be called Tools 9.1) and is only available for JD Edwards implementations running ERP9.0 or newer. There is no word yet on when the new Tools Release containing the new user interface will be released, but we expect it to be available before the end of 2011.
